Area Police
Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important official said the incident made him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
